Job Overview:
Provide outreach and educational presentations to the community about domestic violence and sexual assault.
Outreach includes but is not limited to schools, civic groups, churches and training for judicial, medical, and social service agencies.
Responsibilities:
* Develop curriculum for speaking to a variety of audiences, including K-12
* Develop linkages with community resources.
* Prepare and maintain a current list of community organizations, which announces availability of speakers and arrange meeting dates.
* Conduct community education presentations to child and teenage audiences.
* Conduct community education presentations to civil and social organizations in our service area.
* Conduct trainings for social service providers, law enforcement and medical personnel.
* Work with local media to ensure public awareness of services and the impact of domestic violence.
* Disseminate Safe Haven literature to public places.
* Complete quarterly Community Education narrative and statistical report for CCADV and other funders.
* Complete quarterly narrative and statistical reports for The Alliance to End Sexual Violence as required.
* Participate in health and school fairs, school activities as requested within our service area.
* Keep accurate records.
* Maintains documentation and statistics.
* Attends staff and CCADV community educator meetings.
* Attend all required meetings and trainings by ALLIANCE.
* Assists with training of staff and volunteers.
* Available on-call as needed, staff SACS hotline as needed
* Facilitate programming for after-school programs, summer camps and other youth-serving organizations
* Develop curriculum aligned with principals of Primary Prevention for a variety of audiences, including students in grades K-12
* Developing content/managing agency social media pages
* Perform other duties as requested by the Executive Director.
Requirements:
* Experience with domestic violence and sexual assault issues and their advocacy.
* Experience or training in public speaking.
* Degree in social work or human services required
* Experience working with children, specifically K-12
* Certification as a domestic violence and sexual assault counselor (under CGS 52-146k) as amended, regarding Confidential Communications.

* Knowledge and experience with issues of domestic violence and sexual assault.
* Experience and comfort with public speaking.
* Crisis intervention and counseling skills.
* Oral and written communication skills.
* Organizational skills.
* Knowledge and experience with local and state social service providers.
* Ability to work and relate to a team work setting.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
* Driver’s license and use of personal car for business purposes.
